MONOSPHERE® SELECTED BY QUALCOMM FOR STORAGE CAPACITY PLANNING

STORAGE HORIZON HELPS QUALCOMM IMPROVE STORAGE EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL COSTS

Redwood City, CA August 15, 2006 – MonoSphere® Inc., an independent storage management software innovator, today announced that QUALCOMM Incorporated, a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, has selected Storage Horizon as their systematic storage capacity planning solution.

“Storage Horizon enables QUALCOMM to better support our business divisions’ needs by providing the right amount of storage when they need it, allowing them to anticipate needs with more accuracy,” said Norm Fjeldheim, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for QUALCOMM.  “By factoring in the time to purchase and deliver new storage, we can allocate the right amount of storage, to the right places, at the right time. In places where storage demand growth is down, we can curtail storage spending and be more efficient, improving the company’s bottom line.”

“Managing storage costs have become a top priority in most IT organizations since storage CapEx is growing so disproportionately,” said Steve Ackley, VP of Worldwide Sales for MonoSphere.  “IT Management is looking for ways to slow down rising CapEx by making their storage infrastructure more efficient.  Storage Horizon enables them to accomplish this by allowing most shops to run at much higher utilizations and at higher service levels.”

MonoSphere Storage Horizon software is used by Global 3000 companies as the centerpiece of their systematic storage capacity planning processes aimed at drastically reducing their CapEx spending for storage infrastructure.  Despite shrinking unit costs, yearly storage costs are rising faster than the overall IT budget because of applications’ insatiable and growing thirst for computer storage.  Storage demand has been too difficult to project, causing administrators to significantly overprovision storage to avoid shortages. This has resulted in unacceptably wasteful average storage usage of 40 percent.  Storage Horizon helps IT organizations directly target this expensive low utilization problem, achieve greater value from their existing storage assets, and significantly reduce CapEx spending.
